The
Alamo
“ Remember the Alamo!” This Texas shrine stands for freedom and people
from the world over come to see the Mission Church that still stands. The long
barracks house a short show and museum – and many surrounding attractions
offer movies that showcase the siege of the Alamo.
The
Riverwalk
Colorful, vibrant and exciting, the Riverwalk offers a wonderful place to spend
the day or evening; whether it is enjoying an upscale dinner at one of our
fine dining establishments or lingering over margaritas and tableside guacamole.
Afterwards, browse through the shops or take the boat ride for a history of
the Riverwalk and downtown San Antonio.
The
Mexican Marketplace
Purported to be the largest Mexican marketplace outside of Mexico, “El
Mercado” is a great place to wander around, and check out the dancing,
local bands, singers and artwork on weekends. Don’t forget to check out
the bakery and galleries!
Ripley’s
Wax Museum & Ripley’s Believe It or Not
Over 500 exhibits of the weird and fascinating and incredible wax replicas,
Ripley’s is located in Alamo plaza.
La Villita
Shops, restaurants and galleries in the heart of historic ‘original settlement’ in
downtown San Antonio.
Hemisfair Park
Greenspace and water features give a visitor a respite from the hustle and
bustle of the Riverwalk. The park is home to a playground, the Institute
of Texan Cultures, Instituto Cultural Mexicano and the Tower of the
Americas.

The Institute provides a window on to how the 41 cultures that make up San
Antonio have combined to make the city what it is today and how they have touched

Tower of the Americas
The Tower, 750 ft. tall, offers a panoramic view of San Antonio and the surrounding
area. Glass-walled elevators ascend over 500 feet to the restaurant
and observation level.
Instituto Cultural Mexicano
Visual arts, exhibits, concerts, lectures, workshops and movies to to promote
the Mexican culture strengthen the ties of friendship and understanding
between both countries
Majestic
Theatre
Both a State and National Historic Landmark, the Majestic is beautifully restored.
San
Antonio Museum of Art
Located in the old Lone Star Brewery, the San Antonio Museum of Art houses
this regions finest displays of Greek and Roman antiquities, Asian art, Latin
American and folk art, and American paintings.
The
McNay Art Museum
The McNay Art Museum focuses primarily on 19th- and 20th- century European
and American art. Artists featured include Cézanne, Picasso, Gauguin,
Matisse, O’Keeffe, Cassatt, and Hopper.
The
San Antonio Zoo
Is one of the best and largest zoos in the United States with many conservation
programs such as those for the snow leopard, whopping crane and white rhino
in place. They are one of the only zoos to have successfully hatched lesser
flamingos this past year.
Botanical
Gardens
Just a few miles from downtown, the Gardens offer 33 acres of plantings – including
a sampling of all 5 Texas geographic areas.
Natural
Bridge Caverns
Castle of the White Giants, Hall of the Mountain King … it’s a
fairy land – underground, well worth the trip to the outskirts of San
Antonio!
